my wife has decided that it's time for the dreaded garage sale, and as part of my contribution i am selling ten boxes of comics. that's right, tomorrow morning i am going to put my whole collection, except for my miracleman and punisher issues, out for the world to pick up and run off with.
five comics for a dollar, or a short box for fifteen.
NO!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!! FIGHT THE BATTLE!!! THIS IS A WAR YOU MUST NOT LOSE!!!! AGREE TO EAT AT THE IN-LAWS HOUSE ONCE A YEAR WITHOUT COMPLAINING!!! DO ANYTHING!!!
Actually, Oliver, I don't think you're crazy at all. Are you still keeping your trades? I moved primarily to trades years ago. There just isn't enough storage space in the average home for the amount of longboxes a reader would have after 20+ years of reading… Even after 5-10 years.
I think that storage is a big problem that eventually leads comic readers to start curbing their consumption and results in falling sales. Even before the economy took a nose dive, I found myself buying fewer and fewer trades because I'm running out of bookshelf space, too!
